LU softball loses two conference games

HAYS, Kan. - The Lincoln softball team fell in a pair of MIAA games Saturday, losing 12-4 in five innings in Game 1 and 8-3 in Game 2 of the doubleheader against Nebraska-Kearney played at Fort Hays State.

The third inning was key for Nebraska-Kearney in the first game, as the Lopers homered twice on their way to six runs to extend the lead to 9-1.

A Camryn Pryor walk, Chelsey Kerr double and a Myknzie Livesay flyout allowed Pryor to score in the fourth.

In the fifth, Jordan Lawson doubled in a run before Pryor hit an RBI single.

Kiley Kerr finished with two of Lincoln's six hits.

Madison Ragar was the losing pitcher, allowing five runs on seven hits and a walk in two innings.

Alyssa Schulte pitched six innings in Game 2, giving up seven earned runs on 11 hits with three walks and a strikeout.

Lincoln scored first as Livesay reached on an error to score Lawson, who led off the game with a single.

The Lopers answered with five runs, including a three-run home run by Sara Sempek, in the bottom of the first.

Lawson and Emily Williams each tallied two hits for Lincoln. Chelsey Kerr and Livesay each had an RBI.

Lincoln (3-19, 0-8 MIAA) will take a break from conference play for a few games as it hosts St. Louis College of Pharmacy at 2 p.m. Monday at LU Softball Field.

On Wednesday, the Blue Tigers will play at Truman State. The doubleheader will start at 2 p.m.
