Lincoln drops MIAA softball doubleheader at Fort Hays

HAYS, Kan. - The Fort Hays State Tigers tallied 36 runs on 40 hits Friday to defeat the Lincoln Blue Tigers 23-5 and 13-5 in the doubleheader. Both games ended after five innings.

In Game 1, the Tigers scored seven runs in the first inning, 14 in the third and two in the fourth.

Lincoln scored four of its runs in the fifth.

Jordan Lawson singled in Kiley Kerr before Tori Nienhuesser smacked a two-run home run to left field. Emily Williams drove in the games's final run with a single.

Williams, Kerr, Rachael Balke, and Chelsey Kerr each had two hits for Lincoln.

In Game 2, Lincoln fell behind 10-0 after two innings before cutting the deficit in half in the fourth.

Chelsey Kerr doubled in a pair of runs, Mykenzie Livesay hit an RBI double to right field and Camryn Pryor capped the inning with a two-run home run.

Fort Hays added two runs in the fourth and another in the fifth.

Pryor and Lawson each finished with a pair of hits for the Blue Tigers.

Lincoln (3-17, 0-6 MIAA) will stay in Hays, Kan. to face Nebraska-Kearney for a doubleheader at 1 p.m. today.
