Griffons post 7-6 walk-off win against Renegades

NEVADA, Mo. - Jefferson City Renegades relief pitcher Daniel Lloyd held off Nevada as long as he could, but the Griffons were able to get to him during his fourth inning on the mound.

Tanner Maskey led off the bottom of the 10th inning with a single and Wesley Powell brought him home three batters later with a single for a 7-6 walk-off victory Tuesday in MINK League play.

It was the first time Lloyd pitched more than an inning this season, allowing six runs in 6 innings in seven appearances.

The Griffons could only get one hit against Lloyd, who pitched 3 innings, before the 10th as the game remained tied at 6.

Jefferson City rallied from a 6-2 deficit with a four-run seventh.

Jordan Smith led off with a walk and scored when Quincy Jones reached on an error with the bases loaded. Logan Hudson then crossed the plate when Mike Million drew a walk and Marquise Doherty tied it with a two-run single.

Million attempted to give the Renegades the lead on Tyler Bracht's flyout to center field, but he was tagged out at the plate to end the inning.

Jefferson City led 2-0 in the second after Jady Reese and Hudson each scored on sacrifice flies.

Hudson, Doherty, Reese and Bracht each had two hits for the Renegades. Kaelen Dowling had Jefferson City's other hit.

Kaden Helsel got the start on the mound, allowing five runs on five hits with four walks and seven strikeouts in 3 innings.

Jeremy Hidalgo pitched 2 innings of relief, surrendering a run on three hits with a strikeout.

The Renegades are trying to hold onto a playoff spot with six games remaining. They sit in third place in the South Division with a 17-19 league record, three games ahead of Joplin.

Jefferson City plays at 7 p.m. today at Chillicothe before hosting a doubleheader against Joplin on Thursday.
