College Volleyball: Haslag honored by Braves

Bradley junior Erica Haslag was recognized as the Bradley University Varsity Club's Most Outstanding Female Athlete for the 2017-18 school year, the Braves announced Friday.

The award was voted on by the department staff, local media and fans.

Haslag (Helias High School) is only the second Bradley volleyball player to receive this award. During the 2017 season, Haslag became the first player in program history to collect at least 500 kills (530), 25 aces (27), 375 digs (376) and 45 blocks (46) in a single season. She made first-team all-conference in the Missouri Valley Conference

Haslag's 530 kills, which ranked 11th in NCAA Division I, are second-most in single-season history at Bradley, trailing 720 kills set by Lindsay Stalzer in 2005. Heading into her senior season, Haslag ranks eighth in program history with 1,145 kills for her career. She is also fourth in attack attempts with 3,571.

If she leads the Braves in kills in 2018, Haslag will become the first player in program history to lead the team in kills for four straight seasons.
