Renegades finish road trip with 1-0 loss to Clarinda

CLARINDA, Iowa - The Clarinda A's managed just two hits Tuesday night against the Jefferson City Renegades. One of them scored the game's only run.

Aaron Easley's two-out double scored Mackay Williams in the bottom of the second inning, while three pitchers combined for a shutout in the A's 1-0 win against the Renegades.

Clarinda won 2-of-3 games in the series.

The Renegades managed just four hits, half of which came via the first two batters of the ballgame. Logan Hudson and Justin McIntyre each singled to start the contest, but three straight infield pop-ups got Clarinda out of the early jam.

Jefferson City stranded runners on first and second again in the fourth. In the sixth, Mike Million drew a two-out walk and advanced to third base on a pair of passed balls, but he would be stranded as well.

Sean Bergeron, who hit a walk-off home run to win Monday's game in extra innings, was the winning pitcher for Clarinda on Tuesday. In seven innings, he yielded just three hits and two walks while striking out three.

Clarinda's only other hit came on a two-out single in the fifth by Reid Bonner.

For Jefferson City, Jordan Smith singled in the fourth and McIntyre added another single in the eighth.

Alex Loosbrock took the loss for the Renegades. In seven innings, he gave up one run on two hits with three walks and six strikeouts. Daniel Lloyd pitched a scoreless eighth, walking two and striking out one.

Jefferson City (16-13, 13-13 MINK) returns home today to play the Mid-Missouri Legends, a local all-star team. First pitch is scheduled for 3 p.m. at Vivion Field.
