Lincoln set to play tonight against Central Missouri

The Lincoln Blue Tigers snapped an 18-game losing streak to the Central Missouri Mules the last time they met in Warrensburg.

Tonight on the road, the Blue Tigers (8-9 overall, 2-6 MIAA) will look to start a winning streak of their own against the Mules (13-3, 5-2) in men's basketball action.

In last year's game at Warrensburg, Lincoln rallied from a 10-point deficit with a little more than three minutes remaining on its way to a 70-63 victory in overtime against Central Missouri.

Both teams are coming off losses in their last game. On Saturday, Lincoln fell 92-70 to Missouri Southern at Jason Gym while Central Missouri lost 70-61 at Northwest Missouri State.

Central Missouri will attempt to slow a potent Lincoln offense tonight. The Blue Tigers, with five players averaging in double figures, are scoring 79.8 points per game. The Mules are giving up an average of 64.5 points per contest, 10th in NCAA Division II.

Spencer Reaves leads the Mules at 16.4 points per game, while Jakob Lowrance is next at 15.3.

Game time is 7:30 p.m.

On the women's side, the Blue Tigers and the Jennies will open the action at 5:30 p.m.

Central Missouri (13-1, 7-0), the lone unbeaten team in conference play, will bring a 10-game winning streak into the contest. The Jennies are ranked No. 7 in the D2SIDA Media Poll and No. 10 by the WBCA. Central Missouri is also No. 1 in the Central Region, which consists of teams from the MIAA, Northern Sun and Great American conferences.

Central Missouri's lone loss was a 77-76 decision Nov. 19 at home against Arkansas-Fort Smith.

Lincoln (3-13, 0-8) is led in scoring by Citlali Lopez at 12.1 points per game. Faith Brintle is next at 9.4.

Paige Redmond lead the Jennies at 14.2 points per game, while Morgan Fleming is at 13.6.

In last year's game at Warrensburg, Central Missouri jumped out to a 23-6 lead after the first quarter on its way to a 71-60 victory.

Lincoln (3-13, 0-8) is 0-7 in true road games this season.
