Women's Basketball: Martin seals win for Southern Illinois

PEORIA, Ill. - Southern Illinois forward Nicole Martin made a pair of free throws with six seconds remaining, giving the Salukis a 63-62 win Friday at Bradley.

Martin (Jefferson City High School) was one of three Salukis to score in double figures, finishing with 11 points while adding three rebounds. She shot 3-of-7 from the field and made all five attempts from the free-throw line.

In Sunday's 49-46 loss at Illinois State, Martin posted a team-high 11 points to go with six rebounds for the Salukis.

Through 17 games, Martin is second in scoring with 10.8 points per game for Southern Illinois. She is also second on the team in rebounding, averaging 5.9 boards.

Southern Illinois (9-8), which has a 4-2 record in Missouri Valley Conference play, hosts Loyola of Chicago on Friday.
