Lincoln men, women to host Missouri Southern

The Lincoln Blue Tigers look to extend their winning streak this afternoon when they host the Missouri Southern Lions in MIAA men's basketball action.

Game time for the contest between Lincoln (8-8 overall, 2-5 MIAA) and Missouri Southern (10-6, 5-2) is 3:30 p.m. at Jason Gym.

The Blue Tigers have climbed back to .500 with wins their last two games, including a 75-70 decision at home Thursday night against the Pittsburg State Gorillas.

Lincoln has five players averaging in double figures, led by Amariontez Ivery at 15.8 points per game. Terrance Smith is next at 14.7, followed by John Burton (13.8), Maurice Mason (12.0) and Marquise Williams (11.0).

Williams is close to averaging a double-double as he pulls down 9.4 rebounds per contest.

Missouri Southern has won four straight games entering this afternoon's contest, including an 89-79 victory Thursday at Lindenwood. C.J. Carr tops four Lions who average in double figures at 16.8 points, followed by Elyjah Clark (16.7), Kinzer Lambert (11.9) and Enis Memic (10.4).

Missouri Southern defeated Lincoln 80-76 on Dec. 7 in Joplin. Burton had 19 points in the game for the Blue Tigers, while Clark had 20 points to pace the Lions.

The women's game between the Blue Tigers (3-12, 0-7) and Lions (8-7, 5-2) will start today's action at 1:30 p.m.

Citlali Lopez tops Lincoln in scoring at 11.9 points per game.

Desirea Buerge leads the Lions, who have won six straight, at 20.4 points per game. Chelsey Henry is next at 17.7, while Jenson Maydew is totaling 11.1 points and 8.4 rebounds per contest.

It's the second time these teams have met this season, with Missouri Southern capturing a 94-90 decision in two overtimes Dec. 7 in Joplin.
