NASHVILLE, Tenn. — It was a bit of an off-night for Missouri standouts Sophie Cunningham and Jordan Frericks.

But the duo of Jordan Chavis and Amber Smith picked up the slack Thursday, scoring 18 points each as the 12th-ranked Missouri women defeated Vanderbilt 81-70 in SEC action.

It was a career-high in points for Chavis, who hit six 3-pointers in the win. It continued a hot streak for Smith, who has scored 18 or more points in her last three games.

Frericks finished with 10 points for the Tigers, while Cunningham had just five.

The Tigers jumped out to a 25-15 lead after one quarter and took a 48-37 advantage into intermission.

Missouri put the game away in the third quarter, outscoring Vanderbilt 24-10 to take a 72-47 advantage.

Cierra Walker led Vanderbilt (4-14 overall, 0-4 SEC) with 17 points.

Missouri (15-2, 3-1) is off for a week before playing next Thursday at Mississippi.
