College Track: Bennett, Knernschield are honorable mentions

CRETE, Neb. - Central Methodist sophomores Ryan Bennett and Elliot Knernschield received all-conference honorable mention honors Friday at Saturday at the Heart of America Athletic Conference indoor track and field championships.

Knernschield (Helias High School) finished fourth in the men's mile run with a time of 4:30.95 to earn all-conference honors. He also placed seventh in both the 3,000-meter run (9:12.96) and the 5,000-meter run (15:55.93).

Bennett (Eldon High School) received his all-conference honor in the men's 3,000-meter race walk, posting a time of 19:43.23 to finish in sixth place.

Benedictine junior Scott Brannan (School of the Osage High School) placed 13th in the men's shot put with a throw of 43 feet, 4.5 inches. He also took 19th in the weight throw with a toss of 40-5.5.

Benedictine junior Veronica Wiebold (Blair Oaks High School) took 16th in the women's shot put with a throw of 33-5.25.
