Lincoln men run past Culver-Stockton to finish 2018

Five Lincoln players scored in double figures Sunday afternoon, leading the men's basketball team to an 80-53 win against Culver-Stockton College at Jason Gym.

The Blue Tigers, playing in their final non-conference game of the season, fell behind 5-0, but they never trailed again after Ni'Sean Rigmaiden's jumper put Lincoln ahead 9-7 less than five minutes into the game.

Rigmaiden's basket was part of a 20-3 Lincoln run that propelled the Blue Tigers to a 43-21 halftime lead.

Lincoln started the second half on a 7-1 run and led by as many as 32 points in the second half.

Jonell Burton and Terrance Smith led a balanced scoring attack with 14 points each. Rigmaiden finished with 12 points, Grant Olsson scored 11 points and John Burton came off the bench to add 10 points.

Tez Ivory was the only Lincoln starter not to reach double figures, but he still finished with nine points, adding five rebounds and three assists.

Burton and Smith each grabbed a team-high seven rebounds, and Burton also had a team-best four assists.

The Blue Tigers shot 48.5 percent from the field and committed just eight turnovers.

Mason Vires led Culver-Stockton with 18 points in what counted as an exhibition game for the NAIA program. The Wildcats shot just 30.6 percent from the field.

Lincoln (8-3) returns to Mid-America Intercollegiate Athletics Association play Thursday against Pittsburg State. Tip-off is at 7:30 p.m. in Jason Gym.
