College Baseball: Robertson, Mantle homer

CINCINNATI - Creighton sophomore Will Robertson and junior Ryan Mantle each hit a two-run home run last Friday in the Bluejays' 24-8 win against Xavier.

Robertson (Fatima High School) belted his two-run blast in the top of the first inning to extend Creighton's lead to 3-0. He finished the game 2-for-6 with four RBI and two runs scored, adding an RBI double in the third inning.

Mantle (Linn High School) hit his homer in the fifth inning, making the score 16-3. He went 3-for-4 with two RBI and two runs scored.

In 34 games this season, Robertson is batting .341 (46-for-135) with nine home runs, 43 RBI and 29 runs scored.

Mantle has improved his batting average to .256 (21-for-82) with 12 RBI, 17 runs scored and three home runs.

In Sunday's series finale, Mantle and Robertson each hit a solo home run in the Bluejays' 12-8 to the Musketeers.

Creighton (23-11) plays today at South Dakota State.
