College Volleyball: Engelbrecht leads Owls

BLOOMINGTON, Ill. - William Woods junior setter Brittney Engelbrecht led the Owls in assists Friday and Saturday during the Barker Chevrolet Classic at Illinois Weslyan.

William Woods went 2-2 in the tournament, dropping its first two matches against Rose-Hulman Institute of Technology (25-17, 25-17, 25-18) and Illinois Wesleyan (25-27, 28-26, 23-25, 28-26, 15-7) on Friday. They won against MacMurray (25-5, 25-9, 25-19) and Lake Forest (25-19, 25-23, 25-9) on Saturday.

Engelbrecht (Helias High School) had a season-high 59 assists in the five-set loss against Illinois Wesleyan and finished the tournament with a total of 147 assists. She ranks second in the NAIA with 590 assists through 16 matches this season.

Sophomore outside hitter Tory Wiley (Helias High School) had a team-high 16 kills in the Owls' wins against Lake Forest and totalled 41 kills in the four matches. Wiley leads William Woods with 174 kills this season.

William Woods (9-7) will play today at Hannibal-LaGrange.
