Lincoln women's basketball upset by Stephens College

COLUMBIA - It was a rough final 10 minutes for the Lincoln women's basketball team.

The Stephens College Stars, an NAIA program, outscored the Blue Tigers 19-4 in the fourth quarter to upset Lincoln 59-43 on Tuesday.

Lincoln struggled shooting from long distance, missing all 18 attempts from 3-point range. The Blue Tigers shot 24 percent (17-of-71) from the field.

Stephens led 13-12 after one quarter, then Lincoln won the scoring edge by the same score to tie the game at 25 at halftime. The Stars were clinging to a 40-39 lead before pulling away in the fourth quarter.

Naomi Bryant led Lincoln with 13 points, the only Blue Tiger to score in double figures.

Lincoln outrebounded Stephens 48-41 and grabbed 23 offensive boards. Six Lincoln players had at least five rebounds, led by Bre Coleman with eight boards.

Chalee Britt, who played all 40 minutes, had a double-double of 13 points and 11 rebounds to lead Stephens.

Lincoln (2-3) plays Saturday at Missouri-St. Louis.
