College Volleyball: Haslag receives MVC honor

PEORIA, Ill. - Bradley senior outside hitter Erica Haslag was named the Missouri Valley Conference Player of the Week, the league announced Monday.

For Haslag (Helias High School), it is the second time this season she has received the MVC's top volleyball honor, previously earning it Sept. 17. She is the second Bradley player to be named MVC Player of the Week three times in her career.

Haslag averaged 4.8 kills per set in last week's back-to-back five-set wins against Valparaiso and Loyola of Chicago. She had 20 kills against Valparaiso and matched her season high with 28 kills against Loyola.

Haslag leads the Braves with 461 kills this season, which ranks ninth in NCAA Division I. In Saturday's win against Loyola, she became the 17th player in conference history to surpass 1,600 career kills.

Bradley will finish third in the MVC, its best conference finish since 2001.

Haslag and five other seniors will be honored Friday on Senior Night when Bradley (22-7) hosts Illinois State.
