Missouri baseball drops game to SEMO

COLUMBIA - Steve Bieser's old club got the last laugh Tuesday.

In a game between the Missouri head coach's old team and current one, the Redhawks bested the Tigers 6-5 at Taylor Stadium. Bieser was hired away from SEMO in July.

The Redhawks got on the board first, scoring two runs on a pair of singles in the second inning.

Trey Harris' sacrifice fly in the bottom of the third put Missouri on the board, and a Brian Sharp double the following inning gave Missouri a 3-2 lead.

Missouri's bullpen, however, couldn't hold the lead.

Clayton Evans opened the fifth inning with a solo home run, and the Redhawks regained the lead on an RBI single.

SEMO added an RBI double and scored on a fielder's choice in the inning to take a 6-3 advantage.

Robbie Glendinning drew a bases-loaded walk for the Tigers and Brett Bond followed with a sacrifice fly in the bottom of the seventh to bring Missouri within a run.

The Tigers had a chance to tie it with Johnny Balsamo on third with one out in the bottom of the eighth, but Balsamo was tagged out on Nelson Mompierre's sacrifice squeeze attempt.

Bryce Montes de Oca got the start for Missouri. He pitched four innings, giving up two runs on two hits and four walks with a career-high six strikeouts.

Cameron Dulle (0-1) took the loss after giving up three runs in one-third of an inning.

Sharp went 3-for-4 with two RBI and a double, and Alex Samples and Connor Brumfield each had two hits.

Missouri (21-4) is scheduled to host No. 9 Florida at 6:30 p.m. Friday to open a three-game SEC series.
