Nevada homers four times to beat Jefferson City

NEVADA, Mo. - The Nevada Griffons have won five of their 15 MINK League games. Three have come against the Jefferson City Renegades.

The third came Tuesday night as the Griffons homered four times in a 13-5 win. The Renegades have lost three straight to drop to 8-9 on the season.

Jefferson City had its own long ball Tuesday off the bat of Tyler Cunningham, scoring two runs to take a 3-1 lead in the fourth.

But Nevada left the yard twice in the bottom half, including a two-run shot from Kainalu Pitoy to make it 4-3 Griffons. TJ Martin led off the inning with a solo shot.

The Renegades retook the lead in the next inning. Mike Million singled in Hunter Swift, who doubled and advanced to third on a wild pitch, to tie it at 4. Tanner Wetrich doubled in Million for a 5-4 lead.

Nevada took the lead for good in the bottom half as Rafael Villela Jr. hit a two-run single. Riley Halley walked two after relieving starter Austin Sachse. Conner Pond finished the inning with a flyout to leave the bases loaded.

Nevada added three runs in the sixth, including Noah Menchaca's two-run homer.

Sachse took the loss, allowing six runs and eight hits in 42/3 innings. He walked four and struck out three.

Nevada's fourth homer was Oscar Larranaga's two-run shot in a four-run eighth inning.

It is the sixth time in 17 games this season the Renegades have allowed double-digit runs to an opponent.

Jefferson City and Nevada meet for the fifth time this season at 7 p.m. today.
