Strope (Fatima High School) pinned Maryville's Nick McGhee in 6:21 at 157 pounds, putting McKendree on the board in the dual. Both teams finished with 18 points, but Maryville won on criteria by winning six of the 10 matches.
McKendree was ranked No. 8 in NCAA Division II, while Marvyille was No. 3.
Strope is ranked No. 1 in Super Region Three and is ranked No. 3 nationally in Division II.
McKendree (9-4), which climbed to No. 5 after the loss, will wrestle today at Wisconsin-Parkside.
