Lincoln senior guard Jaylon Smith was named the Mid-America Intercollegiate Athletics Association Men's Basketball Player of the Week, the league announced Monday.

Smith helped guide the Blue Tigers to a pair of road wins last week in conference play.

In last Thursday's 77-69 win at Pittsburg State, Smith scored a game-high 30 points on 10-of-14 shooting. He knocked down six 3-pointers and added eight rebounds, three assists and three steals.

It was the fifth time this season Smith has scored 30 or more points in a game, and the seventh time in his Lincoln career.

He followed that up with 14 points and six rebounds Saturday in Lincoln's 75-72 win at Missouri Southern. Smith played all 40 minutes to help the Blue Tigers earn a season split with the Lions.

This is the second time this season Smith has been honored with the award - earning it Nov. 21 - and third time this season a Blue Tiger has received the award. Senior Anthony Virdure was last week's player of the week.

Like Virdure, Smith is also closing in on 1,000 career points with the Blue Tigers. Smith is 79 points shy of the milestone.

Smith leads the MIAA with 374 points scored this season and is second in scoring average at 22.0 points per game. He also leads the league in minutes played (35.4 mpg), is second in steals (2.1 spg), fifth in rebounding (7.1 rpg) and seventh in 3-point field goal percentage (37.8 percent).
