College Wrestling: Johnson goes 4-0 in Virginia Duals

HAMPTON, Va. - Chattanooga senior Jared Johnson posted a 4-0 record Friday and Saturday during the Virginia Duals.

Johnson (Jefferson City High School), wrestling in the 285-pound division, picked up three wins in the Mocs' duals Friday. He started the day with a 9-1 major decision against Old Dominion's Will Hilliard, then recorded one of Chattanooga's two wins against Oklahoma when he beat No. 19 Ross Larson by a 4-1 decision. Johnson finished the day with a 3-0 decision to beat No. 16 Thomas Haines of Lock Haven.

In his only match Sunday, Johnson won a 7-2 decision against Bucknell's Tyler Greene.

Johnson, ranked No. 11 in the NCAA Division I heavyweight division by InterMat, improved his season record to 19-4 with the four wins.

Chattanooga (3-7), which lost all four duals during the two-day event, will return to action Saturday at SIU-Edwardsville in a Southern Conference dual.
