Women's Basketball: Brandt paces Cougars in regular-season finale

COLUMBIA - Columbia College sophomore guard Morgan Brandt scored a game-high 17 points Saturday to lead the Cougars to a 66-64 win against William Woods.

Brandt (Fatima High School) also had six rebounds, three assists and three steals in the win.

Columbia College freshman forward Mai Nienhueser (Helias High School) added four points and four rebounds.

For William Woods, senior forward Kennedy Volkart (Russellville High School) had eight points, five rebounds and two blocks, while sophomore guard Kendra Vaughn (Tuscumbia High School) scored two points in the loss.

Columbia College (25-5), ranked No. 12 in the NAIA, earned the No. 3 seed in the American Midwest Conference Tournament and will host sixth-seeded Harris-Stowe State at 7 p.m. Wednesday.

William Woods (19-10) is the No. 5 seed in the tournament and will play at 7 p.m. Wednesday at fourth-seeded Lindenwood-Belleville.
