ROLLA - John Karsten of Missouri S&T captured first place in the shot put and second in the discus Sunday at the Dewey Allgood Invitational.
Karsten (Blair Oaks High School) won the shot put with a toss of 51 feet, 61/4 inches. He was second in the discus at 152-4.
Allie Heckemeyer of Missouri Southern took first in the women's triple jump at 40-21/2. Heckemeyer (St. Elizabeth High School) also was second in the long jump (18-71/4), fifth in the high jump (5-21/4) and fifth in the 400-meter dash (59.32).
Madelyn Scrivner of William Woods won the women's hammer throw with a toss of 170-7. Scrivner (Eldon High School) was fourth in the discus (115-6) and fourth in the shot put (38-83/4).
