College Baseball: Distler, Mercer leads UCM

WARRENSBURG - Central Missouri senior Cole Distler collected two hits and sophomore Luke Mercer pitched two scoreless innings of relief Saturday, leading the Mules to a 7-2 series-opening win against Northeastern State.

Distler (Helias High School) went 2-for-4 with a pair of singles, along with an RBI and run scored in the eighth inning. In eight games, Distler is batting .273 (6-for-22) with three RBI and six runs scored.

Mercer (Tipton High School) had one walk and two strikeouts to close the game. In 17 appearances this season, Mercer has a 4.70 ERA with 20 strikeouts in 23 innings.

Central Missouri (28-12) will go for the series sweep today against Northeastern State.
