Missouri softball upends Auburn

AUBURN, Ala. - Missouri softball picked up a 6-1 opening series win at No. 7 Auburn on Friday.

Missouri fell in an early 1-0 hole, but Kirsten Mack tied the game with a solo home run in the top of the second. Mack hit another home run in the top of the fourth to give Missouri the lead. Chloe Rathburn his an RBI double in the top of the sixth, and Braxton Burnside hit a two-run home run in the top of the seventh.

Cheyenne Baxter (12-4) got the win for Missouri. She pitched 42/3 and gave up a run on five hits and four walks with two strikeouts. Madi Norman (Tipton High School) pitched a shutout inning and gave up a walk with a strikeout.

Mack went 2-for-2 in the game for Missouri, and Rathburn went 2-for-4.

Missouri (23-16, 4-7 Southeastern Conference) continues it series at Auburn at 6 p.m. today.
