LU softball drops pair

The Lincoln softball team's losing streak extended to eight games Friday, dropping both contests in a doubleheader against Missouri Southern by scores of 11-2 and 9-0 at LU Softball Field.

Missouri Southern held a 2-0 lead after one inning in the first game, but Lincoln tied it in the bottom of the second. Paige Parker drove in Chelsey Kerr with an RBI double to right-center field and Sarah Westhoff later scored on a wild pitch.

The score stayed tied at 2 until the Lions scored five runs in the fifth inning, then added two runs in each of the sixth and seventh innings.

Jordan Lawson went 3-for-4 for the Blue Tigers with two singles and one double. Parker finished 2-for-3 with one single and one double.

Madison Ragar took the loss, allowing eight runs on 12 hits with two walks and two strikeouts in five-plus innings.

The Blue Tigers managed just five hits in game two, which last only five innings because of run rule. Lawson, Westhoff, Kerr, Tori Nienhueser and Lauren Morrow (Helias High School) each had one single.

Macie Kinsey was the losing pitcher, allowing nine runs on nine hits in three-plus innings.

Lincoln (5-37, 2-16 MIAA) will host Pittsburg State for a doubleheader at 1 p.m. today.
