Blue Tigers add six players to women's basketball roster

The Lincoln women's basketball team announced the addition of five junior college transfers and one incoming freshman for the 2016-17 season.

Amber Braxton (State Fair CC), Tyler Brown-Henderson (South Suburban College), Jade Carranza (Coffeyville CC), Kailey Foster (Moraine Valley CC) and CiCi Lopez (Iowa Western CC) will all join the Blue Tigers as juniors. The lone freshman, Erica Gibbons, comes from Maynard Jackson High School in Atlanta.

"I'm very excited about the group of young women we have coming in," first-year head coach Ayana McWilliams said in a press release. "Not only are they talented student-athletes, they are high character individuals. Each of them brings a special talent to LU and the women's basketball program, and I believe their impact will be one that is felt on the court, in the classroom and in our community."

Gibbons is a 6-foot forward who averaged 16 points and eight rebounds her senior season.

Brown-Henderson, a 5-9 guard/forward, averaged a double-double last season at South Suburban.

In two seasons at Coffeyville, 6-0 forward Carranza totaled 76 steals and 18 blocks.

Foster, a 5-8 guard, comes in as a distributor and threat to turn defense into offense, finishing with 106 assists and 90 steals the past two seasons.

Lopez began her collegiate career at South Suburban, where she averaged 17.3 points per game. The 5-7 guard then averaged 6.4 points per game last season at Iowa Western.

Braxton, a 6-0 forward, comes in after averaging 1.2 points and 1.2 rebounds per game at State Fair.
