BATON ROUGE, La. — The LSU Tigers shot 65 percent from the field in the second half Monday to beat the Missouri women's basketball team 61-51 in Southeastern Conference play.
LSU trailed 23-21 at halftime, then outscored Missouri 21-13 in the third quarter and 19-15 in the fourth.
Missouri shot 50 percent from the field after halftime — compared to 33 percent in the first half — but committed nine turnovers and was outrebounded 15-8 in the second half.
Ayana Mitchell scored a game-high 17 points to lead LSU (13-8, 4-5 SEC), while Khayla Pointer, Faustine Aifuwa and Shanice Norton each added 10 points. Mitchell also grabbed a game-high 12 rebounds.
Sophie Cunningham led Missouri with 14 points, shooting 4-of-5 from 3-point range. Lauren Aldridge and Amber Smith each scored 10 points, and Smith and Cierra Porter each had eight rebounds.
Missouri (16-7, 5-4 SEC), which has lost three of its last four games, hosts Texas A&M at 6 p.m. Thursday at Mizzou Arena.
