KNOXVILLE, Tenn. — Matt Berler sent a grand slam, just his second career home run with Missouri, over the left-field wall Thursday to lead the Tigers to a 5-0 win Thursday against the Tennessee Volunteers.
Berler's homer came in the fifth inning, scoring Alex Samples, Kirby McGuire and Kameron Misner.
Berler now has 11 RBI in his Missouri career.
The Tigers added a run in the seventh when Samples reached on a fielder's choice to score Misner, who led off the inning with a walk.
Berler, McGuire, Misner, Bond and Robbie Glendinning accounted for Missouri's five hits.
TJ Sikkema (8-1) struck out seven and allowed four hits in a complete-game shutout.
Missouri (33-21, 12-16 Southeastern Conference) and Tennessee (27-23, 7-19) will play the second game of the three-game series to wrap up the regular season at 5 p.m. today.
