Your Opinion: Trump's wall is a promise broken

Dear Editor:

On the editorial page of this paper on Sept. 5, Jim Dyke's editorial cartoon indicated that Trump is keeping his promise to build a wall. As I recall, what he actually said was that we would build a wall and Mexico would pay for it.

In the same newspaper on page 6 was an article with the headline, "Military base cuts affect schools, target ranges, more." In reading that article, it states that this money being cut from the military for the wall will affect projects in 23 states, 19 countries and three territories." This was money promised to the military and in all likelihood will not be replaced.

We praise our military, wear ribbons in support of it and brag about the strength of it. Folks, this is breaking a promise, not keeping one.
