Your Opinion: Response to Bergman

Dear Editor:

Mr. Bergman's letter reminded me of the poem "First they came" which was about the rise of the Nazi party in Germany. I'm not sure if this was intentional or subconscious but it does follow the pattern where skeptics (realists) are labeled deniers after the Holocaust deniers. A similar tactic would be: Instead of calling them alarmists to call them terrorists because after all they do attempt to terrorize people into doing what they want.

It is interesting Berman mentions the IPCC report and that it was drawn up by scientists, I wonder if he knows that many respectable scientists resigned stating such things as "Warming fears are the worst scientific scandal in the history. When people come to know what the truth is, they will feel deceived by science and scientists." - UN IPCC Japanese Scientist Dr. Kiminori Itoh, an awarding-winning PhD environmental physical chemist. There are pages and pages of scientists stating their outrage and frustration with the UN IPCC. Most of the outrage was that the panel wouldn't listen to scientists but had their own political agenda.

As far as the comments on temperature rise since the 1950s and 95 percent caused by man, a study by Dr. Jennifer Marohasy and Dr. John Abbot did six 2,000-year-long proxy temperature series and were unable to confirm that recent global warming is anything but natural. Dr. Marohasy rightly stated that her paper "will likely be ignored" as most climate facts are, like the rise in sea level is actually slowing not accelerating. When I researched Mr. Berman's claim on storms, I found a very interesting contradiction. NASA writes storms are stronger but may be fewer, while Aslak Grinsted of Niels Bohr Institute of Cophenhagen University writes the exact opposite. It's interesting UN IPCC stated that hurricanes are not increasing in frequency nor in strength.

Don't get me started on the idiocy of the Paris Climate Agreement that would take another whole letter to the editor but to condense it, America would have to pay billions and reduce our carbon output while other countries would increase theirs or make no changes at all. Many of these countries already release more CO2 than we do.

When one starts reading the facts and not the hyped headlines, one stops being alarmed and actually becomes outraged over the global warming deception.
