Your Opinion: Trump never ceases to amaze

Dear Editor:

The person who is our president never ceases to amaze me with his uncanny ability to appeal to the worse in some people. That’s a real talent. Few leaders in America have had that talent, thank goodness.

I had to pick myself up off of the floor from laughing so hard after learning that during his July 4th speech at the Lincoln Memorial he referenced during the Revolutionary War of 1776 to 1783, our revolutionary army seized the airports. This was over 100-plus years before aircraft had been developed. I wonder who and how long it took his aides to educate him that they didn’t have airports in that era. I suspect most middle-schoolers would know this, or I hope they would. I have read he doesn’t like reading more than one page at a time or he loses interest. I get tired of his writing or speaking at the seventh- or eighth-grade level.

I lived for so many years thinking at the national level that Republicans would be a barrier to undemocratic action. I was wrong. Not hardly a word. Dead silence. At least the federal judiciary is holding up for now.

I wonder what the national Republican Party will believe in after he is gone. One wonders.

This moderate in the last national election voted moderate to conservative, next year its going to be moderate to liberal.

While Biden isn’t my first choice among the Democrats running for president, I do hope he wakes up and realizes it’s not the 1980s anymore, it’s 2019 and the world has changed.

Lastly, one thing I admire about Jesus was his ability to avoid the politics of his time, unlike me and so many other Christians of today.
