Your Opinion: Response to Ault

Dear Editor:

"Forbidden Fruit," an editorial title as a pun or as a statement of racism and homophobic nonrestraint? I hope it's not a racist title. I hope it's a pun because Tom Ault (Dec. 22) appears to have issues with the family of humanity. Where is it stated that biracial couples are not a part of Christianity? Perhaps his edition of the Bible is different from mine. When I reached the fourth paragraph and saw that TV ads using biracial and/or gay individuals has impacted the teachings of the church to the degree that Christian beliefs are no longer acceptable, I paused for a moment.

Tom, yes, our political divisiveness is very negative, but we as a people for decades and decades have learned for the most part to agree to disagree and then we voted our opinions in the voting booth. If families are in strife because of differences in political opinion, the problem is much deeper than Republican versus Democrat. Here's my advice to you: Take a deep breath, find a quiet place, and then moderate the discussion so both voices are heard. You might learn something.

As for TV, change the channel. Turn the TV off. Vote with your thumb, but please do not state bi-racial couples as seen in commercials are destructive to the teachings of Jesus, Christianity, family values, love and friendship.

It's going to be 2020 soon. Do you have friends who do not look like you? That should be your New Year's Resolution. It's not the sight of interracial couples and/or gay people that is bothering you, it's your thoughts about what you see that is bothersome. New Year's Resolution 2: Let those thought go.
