Your Opinion: Be careful about amending Constitution

Dear Editor:

As we approach this important election, please take a moment to exercise your voter’s responsibility to be fully informed of any constitutional amendments on the ballot. Although I don’t care which side of the fence you are standing on, I do care that you make an informed decision to say yes or no. The Constitution is important because it is the foundation of our laws and our basic governmental structure. My father always told me that the Constitution was established in such a manner to require thoughtful citizen input into substantial changes to our system of government. Therefore, I implore you to read the full text of any constitutional amendment and only vote “yes” if you fully understand and agree with the totality of the proposal.
