Your Opinion: Pro choice? Women choose unprotected sex

Dear Editor:

This is a response to Sue Gibson's letter. I am for Women's Choice also, but her choice comes when she chooses unprotected sex. When she does this, she is showing no responsibility for her actions. If Planned Parenthood really meant what it's title says, their goal would be to have no need for abortions. Their mission should be to provide birth control - period - by helping women to plan their parenthood. They have failed when a woman gets pregnant.

Don't quote pregnancies by rape or danger to the mother's health, because that's only 1 percent of all pregnancies. Unfortunately, the main reason for the need for abortions is convenience to the woman. If she wants to continue a pregnancy when the baby is in crisis, she'll ask doctors to do everything in their power to save it; when she doesn't want it, she asks for it to be killed. Women have got to take responsibility for their own actions, which seems like no one wants to do in this day and age. When they foolishly have unprotected sex, they are choosing the consequences. The natural end to a conjugal act is pregnancy when the egg is fertile. Once fertilized, it becomes nothing less than a human being. There are so many resources now to help a pregnant woman carry her baby to term and give it to one of the hundreds of couples who cannot have a child. CathoicsForChoice or Christians for Choice, is an oxymoron. Thou shalt not kill.
