Your Opinion: It is disrespecting the flag

Dear Editor:

I'll give Jason Strickland's young age as the reason for his ill-conceived thoughts as stated in his commentary that those who kneel during the playing of the National Anthem are not protesting our troops or disrespecting our flag. You D-- right they are disrespecting our flag! Proper respect for the flag is shown by standing with your hand over your heart, or if in uniform or on active duty or having served in the military to salute during the national anthem or when the flag passes in a parade. If Kaepernick, or any of the others who protest by disrespecting the flag, want to really make a difference in what they perceive as injustices, they might apply for a job as a police officer or in some other position in the criminal justice system. How could anyone think that kneeling during the national anthem would remedy any perceived injustices?
