Your Opinion: Millennials kicking capitalism to the curb

Dear Editor:

This a sequel to my letter published 11/1/2017 "Country founded on freedoms endowed by Creator." I call your attention to the following three articles. The titles should be self-explanatory, however I would hope that your readers will read the articles on their own and by doing such be as fearful as I as to the future of our Republic as protected by our Constitution and Bill of Rights.

"Study: Nearly Half of Millennials Would Rather Live Under Socialism Than Under Democracy," by Katherine Rodriguez Nov. 5, 2017. Quotes from the article: "A joint survey by the research firm YouGov and the Victims of Communism Memorial Foundation found that nearly 45 percent of millennials would prefer to live in a socialist society, compared to the 42 percent of millennials who said they would rather live in a capitalist one." Seven percent said they would rather live in a communist society.

"Get Rid of Capitalism? Millennials Are Ready to Talk About It," by Ben Steverman, Nov. 6, 2017.

Quotes from the article: "Young Americans have soured on capitalism. In a Harvard University poll conducted last year, 51 percent of 18-to-29 year-olds in the U.S. said they opposed capitalism; only 42 percent expressed support. Among Americans of all ages, by contrast, a Gallup survey last year found that 60 percent held positive views of capitalism."

"Once taboo, socialism finds comrades among US millennials," by Maggy Donaldson, AFP, Nov. 10, 2017.

A quote from the article: "Lee Carter, who this week won a seat in the Virginia House of Delegates, is part of a growing cadre of young politicians pledging their allegiance to the Democratic Socialists of America, the nation's fastest growing leftist group that was originally founded in 1982 as a foothold for Marxists." https://www.yahoo.com/news/once-taboo-socialism-finds-comrades-among-us-millennials-05199477.html

Unless our educational system is changed from a liberal indoctrination to one that teaches the value of freedom and self-reliance instead of expecting all things to come from government, then we need to look to Cuba as a glimpse of America's future!

God help us!
