Your Opinion: Russia could do what we can't: destroy terrorism

Dear Editor:

When the Soviet Union went down, the world's power structure suffered a terrible blow. Our brutal soviet adversaries lost the ability to fulfill their role in helping us to keep the world under control. When the Soviet Union was powerful, the world had a sort of "two-party system" behind which might be found the single purpose of keeping crazies like Muslim terrorists, for instance, from getting control of nuclear weapons, for example.

I hope that Putin's apparent intention to recreate the Russian Empire will result in filling the power vacuum in which Islam has been largely free to run amok. Blessings upon you Mr. Putin if you will use Russia's unabashed fist to seek and to destroy Muslim terrorists and the only soil from which they can grow. If you destroy that soil worldwide, Mr. Putin, you will be our savior. We in the West are crippled by our unwillingness to violate the tolerance demanded by our precious self-image. We will be of only limited use, at best.
