Dear Editor:
Once again the Real ID is on the list of bills to be considered by the Missouri Legislature. We are now in the last week of this session and no serious efforts are being made to bring this to a vote. We are now down to four states that have not addressed this issue and Missouri is right at the top.
We really don't know all of the restrictions that will apply once the deadline in January is reached. Access to all federal government functions, including flying on any commercial plane, will require documentation such as a passport or other acceptable proof of who you are if your state does not have Real ID. We are required to submit these additional documents every time we visit my son at Fort Riley, Kansas, each and every time we visit.
Why must we as a state be so backward? It is no wonder we are ranked dead last among all states in about everything.
