Your Opinion: Trump train in trouble

Dear Editor:

I read it here. The Trump train is loading up folks from Cole County. These people are satisfied #45 is acting in their interests.

Were they thrilled when he said he wouldn't take a pay check? He just cashed his second one.

He said over and over that Mexico would pay for a border wall. He just asked Congress for $25 billion to pay for that wall.

He said he would not go on vacation or golf. It's reported that five of the last seven weekends he played golf and vacationed in his Florida resort.

He said he would use American steel for the dangerous pipelines he is pushing. Then Russian steel showed up for these pipelines.

He said nobody on his campaign communicated with the Russian government. After lying and being caught, seven of his staff have admitted they spoke or met with Russian officials.

He said he would divest from his businesses. He did not!

He said he would release his tax returns. He has not!

He was going to drain the swamp of Washington insiders. His cabinet is filled with lobbyists, oil and Wall Street executives and numerous billionaires.

He was going to defeat ISIS in 30 days. So far, no plan in place.

He said he would replace Obamacare with healthcare that would cover more people, that it would offer better care and at a lower cost. That plan, the AHCA, has been uncovered and it covers far fewer people at greater cost. It throws 24 million citizens under the bus.

#45 has been a known quantity for a long time. You could double, even triple the list of things he has said or promised and then did not deliver. The real question is why does one third of the population support him without question? I am sure there are reasons, but all require belief in a false prophet and mythical thinking.

Some Trump voters say they just want to destroy a political system that was not meeting their needs? I don't watch Fox or listen to hate radio. Is destroying the political system what they preach? Is chaos a good replacement?

The Trump train is going over a cliff. The forty percent of Americans who are fans of #45 are being led by a carnival barker and showman. Will they admit they were duped before it's too late?
