Your Opinion: Critic claims undue level of understanding

Dear Editor:

The News Tribune recently printed a letter of mine. That letter referred to Kathy Griffin's appearance with a simulated Trump head. I encouraged readers to respect Kathy's 1st Amendment rights, which would have to include doing nothing to damage her career.

A few days later, the News Tribune printed a letter containing an angry response. My critic's piece claims a level of understanding that he does not have. He is the best writer, so far, to favor me with his ire, which might suggest to his readers that he is a more penetrating thinker than he really is. I'm more accustomed to simply being called a moron or a Klansman. I've been called a Nazi on occasion. My new friend seems to think that I'm a Democrat and a liberal. Maybe he's right and maybe he's wrong, I ain't sayin'.

I don't try to make my thoughts consistent with each other. I not smart enough to figure out the world, so I deal with one thing at a time, and I try to tell the truth.
