Your Opinion: Musical, visual Christmas present

When music touches my soul I have to write about it. That happened Tuesday night at Capitol Caroling. The sight and sound of the many earnest young singers in beautiful harmony aligned on the steps under the Capitol Dome gave evidence that the younger generation is one to be proud of. The symphonic band and orchestra was exceptional also.

The "Hallelujah Chorus" brought the audience to their feet and rang out to an enthusiastic conclusion. It reminded me of singing "The Messiah" many years ago at Central Methodist College in Fayette, and again at Bethany College in Kansas while military duty in the Naval Reserve.

We were very lucky to find a seat at "the Caroling,' arriving at 6:15 p.m. to find an overflowing crowd of happy attendees of all ages already gathered to enjoy the occasion. Every year sees a bigger crowd, and what seems to be a greater musical and visual performance. We will all look forward to next year, and try to remember to reserve a seat!
