Your Opinion: Fostering hate between parties disgraceful

Dear Editor:

We have, as a citizenry, lived with, and put up with, the most childish group of politicians that I can remember. Like children bickering over a toy, they continue to shamelessly take our money, in more ways than we could possible count, while doing very little of value for us, or our country as a whole. May we question what their true objectives might be?

It would be interesting to be made aware of the net worth of every U.S. senator when he entered office, and then after four years of holding that office, his/her new net worth. I realize that having a good college degree is helpful in many ways, but when that degree is based on political scienceI wonder! How many of these good people have actually worked in the real world?

This year we have enjoyed a great decrease in unemployment, an increase in productivity in the markets and companies, and renewed prosperity. Whether we like his language or not, we have a president who has tried to do what he said he would do if elected. I must admit that frequently his methods seem a bit unusual, and while definitely not schooled in "political correctness" like the apparent average politician, he has tried to do what he said he would do.

Being of a particular party is not something that is vitally important. The parties change over the years and frequently become the opposite of what they originally were. My question is, therefore, what is important? There are those that think if you are a Republican you can do this or that, and stand for this or that. A Democrat is exactly the same. Unfortunately fostering hate between parties seems to be most important today, and I find it disgraceful!

They are brothers in the sense that they are of one supposedly united front. The difference being that most brothers can consider the other's point of view, even in dire circumstances. Our political parties can't seem to find any middle ground these days.

If we are to remain a united country, politicians need to stop the hate speeches, stop the bickering over idiotic nothingness, and start doing what is best for our country rather than their pockets.
