Your Opinion: Snowflake cartoon appreciated

Dear Editor:

Jim Dyke, the best political cartoon ever! You are spot on about the 'snowflakes,' and I assume you are speaking from experience. I have family members that will not discuss any issues in opposition to their already formed beliefs.

Once, a long time ago, I was a liberal thinker myself. As an artist I was in a community of like-minded individuals. Life changes and so did I. I began to think about the roots of liberalism and started to question why the arts are infiltrated by liberal thinking. The arts and humanities are rather dependent on federal grant money, thus I answered part of my question. Visual and performing artists depend on liberal thinkers to sell their product to. People that are not offended by violence, sex, questionable subject matter and cop-killing song lyrics are those that keep the industry alive. Introduce conservative thinking into the mix and Hollywood and the arts start to worry about survival.

Civil service, teachers and others that depend on tax money for pay raises or state and federal handouts will usually be liberal in their thinking. (The more freebies the more liberal votes. Who is more likely to give me a raise, a Rep. or a Dem.?).

I guess conservatism (from a liberal point of view) is construed as an uncaring cult of people that are nothing more than greedy, self-serving and cold of heart. Apparently snowflakes find it easier to have a 'melt down' than to have an honest discussion.
