Your Opinion: Dialogue needed on time change

Dear Editor:

The time change has come with barely a complaint. I suspect that the recent election may have been a bit distracting.

The Wall Street Journal recently published a short time-change piece by David Crooks and Sean McDade. They provided some interesting numbers.

"The annual spring switch over cost the U.S. economy $433,982,548 in lost productivity." After the fall switch, pedestrian deaths jump by a factor of three in the week after DST ends.

I feel certain that many additional numbers could be brought forward both for and against continuing the time change.

I will repeat a concern which I brought forward a year ago. The government has no right interfering with our sleep patterns. Sleep patterns are a health concern.

We need a national dialogue to address this issue. I suspect that I am not alone. If enough people speak up there is a tiny chance that Congress might listen.
