Your Opinion: Climate change lawsuit is a scam

Dear Editor:

A recent letter to the editor about a climate change lawsuit begs questions and a need for, and dissemination of, accurate information.

Judge Aiken, who allowed an idiotic and literally childish suit about climate change to proceed in the federal court system, is a Clinton appointee with some ethics complaint baggage and a deceased husband who was chair of the Oregon State Democrat Party. Oh gee, another Democrat trying to manipulate the legal system. The children filing the suit display gross lack of knowledge about science, reality and law.

The Earth did not have a stable climate system before our species even existed nor will the climate be stable if humans stopped using fossil fuels. Thousands of years ago 'stable' climate systems on Earth didn't provide free and ordered societies, per the judge's assertion, but rather tyrants, kings, wars, slavery, pillage, rape and general carnage. Trying to determine Earth's climate system based on the change of one variable is a fool's errand or a politician's sleight of hand to gain more control of people. The latter is the real issue that needs to be addressed especially when wannabe dictatorial Democrats and UN tyrants are involved.

The IPCC was formed to detect and assess possible human influences on global climate systems relative to many natural forces. Soon only human influences were being evaluated and then only human activities were declared to be the only influence affecting Earth's climate. Ignoring natural climate change forces is not real science. That star we call our Sun is the elephant in the room of climate change and is being deliberately ignored. Recent Sun quiescence will drive temperatures down then what human activity will be blamed? Wanton ignorance is not how real science or rational orderly societies originate.

In part of the lawsuit, plaintiffs claim the government has violated its obligation to hold certain natural resources in trust for future generations. Earth and its resources are finite and although the number of future generations is not infinite the number could be immense. Consequently, to preserve finite resources over an enormous period of time use of said resources should immediately cease. Plaintiff's suit essentially deprives themselves of resources that need to be reserved for generation n+1. The last generation of humans is in for a big surprise, plenty of resources and no time left to use the resources.

Don't forget asteroids also can cause climate change.
