Your Opinion: Response on Clinton's actions

Dear Editor:

This letter is written in response to the letter appearing in the Sept. 18 News Tribune from Dewey Thompson, no relation to me.

In his letter, Mr. Thompson makes several defenses of Hillary Clinton by attacking a previous letter writer and by slandering previous office holders. He admits that Hillary Clinton "acid washed" 35,000 emails but defends that action by asserting that 22 million emails were deleted by "the Bush-Cheney regime." He fails to point out that the 35,000 emails deleted at Ms. Clinton's direction were under subpoena and were the subject of a freedom of information (FOIA) request, thus the deletions were in violation of criminal law, likely constituting obstruction of justice, and clearly constituting obstruction of Congress.

Mr. Thompson also states that "Cheney outed a covert CIA agent for political payback." I assume he is referring to Valerie Plame. If he is, Mr. Thompson simply is perpetuating another falsehood promoted by the liberal press and liberal bloggers. Ms. Plame's name was revealed to columnist Robert Novak by Richard Armitage, a long time federal government employee, who has, according to a June 16, 2016, article in Politico, announced that he is supporting Ms. Clinton for president.

So the person who actually outed Valerie Plame is supporting Ms. Clinton! Mr. Thompson states in his email that whoever repeats a lie is "played the fool." I suppose under his own test, Mr. Dewey Thompson is a fool. I am not calling him a fool, he called himself that.

Before Mr. Thompson or anyone decides whether to vote for Ms. Clinton, please watch Patricia Smith tell the true story of the death of her son in Libya, and the testimony of FBI Director Comey about the numerous falsehoods Ms. Clinton repeated made in public statements.
