Your Opinion: Hillary's moral strength prevails

Dear Editor:

Let us be honest, folks. We don't like Hillary Clinton. Not because she is sometimes shrill. Not because she is secretive or defensive or "dishonest." Not because of her "smirky" smile or her pink pants.

People hate her because she is a she. A her. A woman striving to be successful in a "man's occupation."

Hillary is held to a humanly impossible standard: a standard particularly unique for all women. They have to be better than men at any task in which they compete: Particularly in management, intellect or leadership roles.

The lengths to which we go to rationalize this are extraordinary.

In Hillary's case the Republicans and liberals alike have created ethical and moral failings out of thin air. The news media, New York Times included, refers to her as a "flawed" candidate.

The story most associated with the Clintons is Bill's infidelities. Donald Trump is preparing to blame Hillary for Bill's peccadilloes with Monica Lewinsky in the next debate.

As incredible as it sounds, Hillary has been blamed for Bill's randy behavior because of her "inadequacies as a wife." In addition she has been ridiculed for forgiving him and accused of being an enabler

Even after the trial of President Clinton by public opinion, gossip, vulgar curiosity and a congressional flogging, the Clintons have "toughed it out" just as Focus on the Family recommends. Today, they have apparently created a successful and mutually rewarding relationship.

And what about Donald Trump? We know the general outline. He has been married three times and had numerous affairs. But most extraordinary he appears is obsessed with fears of inadequacy. He called tabloid newspapers under an assumed name to brag about his sexual equipment. Appeared in a Playboy soft porn movie and was a regular on the Jerry Springer show where he was explicit about his sexual conquests and his judgment of the body proportions of well known women.

During his bitter divorce from his first wife he pleaded the Fifth Amendment 97 times against charges of adultery even though he was carrying on a very public extramarital affair with Marla Maples.

He lusted after Paris Hilton when she was 12 years old and has promised his current wife not to date any girls younger than she is.

Why is there even a question about Hillary Clinton's moral strength and stamina compared to Donald Trump's?
