Your Opinion: Allegations beg for fact checking

Dear Editor:

Charles Rackers' letter slandering Hillary Clinton just begged for fact checking. I will not use my time and space here to catalog every lie; I will just make the point that people should check things out for themselves and not put any stock in someone's claims if they have to lie to put forth their opinion.

In 1975, attorney Hillary Clinton was appointed by a court, over her objection, to defend a man charged with raping a 12-year-old girl.

She did not volunteer to take the case, she did not demonize the victim, and she did not laugh about the verdict. The victim and her mother requested a plea deal to avoid the trauma of a court trial.

Also, no, she did not steal dishes, etc. from the White House. When people make outlandish claims, please check a reliable nonpartisan source.

Hillary Clinton is the most qualified person ever to run for president of the United States.

She has the endorsements of respected major newspapers, and Republicans as well as Democrats and independent voters.

I will refer readers to the The New York Times' endorsement for delineation of her accomplishments, of which there are many, and to her website (HillaryClinton.com/issues/) for her policy proposals, which are exciting.

I also recommend visiting VotingInfo.net (a nonpartisan site) to compare the two major party platforms.
