Your Opinion: What will Trump do?

Dear Editor:

"I don't know what Trump will do. I do know I won't like it." So, said a friend. Based on who Trump is and what he said he would do, I have no interest in " giving Trump a chance." This was precisely the view of conservatives when Obama was elected. Limbaugh said his goal was to make Obama a one-term president. A one-term Trump presidency will be far too long.

Trump won several ways, but his winning promotes a new anger and concern that motivates resistance. His supporters are attacking protesters and those who say Trump is not OUR president. Unless Trump lied about his intentions most Americans opposed most of what he stands for. When the Tea Party criticized President Obama, conservatives declared the Tea Party was showing principled patriotism. Attacking a new group of principled patriots is hypocrisy.

Will buyer's remorse set in quickly? On 11/25 the New York Times said Trump's election will lead to an immediate attack on Medicare. For a decade Paul Ryan and conservatives have been attempting to reduce Medicare benefits to a voucher system. Economists say such a system will reduce benefits by up to 40 percent. Medicare is not "socialized medicine" as my local doctors like to quip. It's "socialized insurance" and is more efficient than private insurance. Will there be new attempts to turn Social Security over to Wall Street?

Here is a quandary. Trump said this was a loser issue. He said Medicare should be protected. Will Trump be rolled by a Republican Congress or will he go outside the box and stiff Ryan and others in the Republican Party? Who knows? During the election, there was absolutely no one Trump would not attack or oppose. For a year and a half every news or political source said he had crossed a line. Then he was elected. Why would Trump ever roll over for anyone even if they are Republican?

In this transition period, Trump's selections for cabinet positions are unqualified outsiders. He continues playing the press for fools and being rewarded. Unless proven wrong, we should believe everything he said during his campaign for the presidency knowing that he lied about "facts" almost 70 percent of the time.

America is the world's only superpower. This makes Donald Trump the world's most dangerous man.
