Your Opinion: Oppose climate change nonsense

Dear Editor:

I've been reading the climate change letters and doing more research and thought I'd just drop a few tidbits and facts for the readers. Did you know that the chair of the of the Atmospheric Sciences at MU, Dr. Tony Lupo, according to Wikipedia: "is an outspoken global warming skeptic, acknowledging that human activity contributes to global warming but putting more faith in the view that it is a natural phenomenon." He even spoke at the international conference on climate change, has an impressive list of awards and shares in a Nobel Peace Prize. While the doctor mentioned in a recent letter is actually the head of the geography department.

A while back in several letters there were remarks made about skeptics like myself (who prefer to be called realists) being in the minority so I was surprised to read a Huffington Post article that stated only one in four Americans were extremely concerned about climate change and the author was trying to psychoanalyze the public as to why so few (most likely because all the predictions have been wrong for about 40 years).

Then I found a YouGov poll only 9.2 percent of Americans were concerned about climate change, so people like me are not so much in a minority as we were led to believe. Something else I found disturbing is the calls for immediate action, giving the impression that the USA is doing nothing. Did you know; that the US government spends $22 billion on climate change every year, that the USA is the leader in the reduction of CO2 production by over 11 percent the only other country that comes close is Germany with 5.9 percent reduction?

The coal fire power plant in Chamois is closed and Missourian's are out of work. One of the largest coal mines in the nation is going bankrupt, more Americans out of work. So the government is doing what alarmist want, why the big tax push.

What is worse is the new "green" energy sources are killing birds by the thousands, taking up land that support endangered species and some solar facilities are producing CO2 to preheat the water with natural gas before the sun heats it and commercial Lithium extraction is environmentally unsound. How much more will alarmist destroy to get what they want? I don't want to find out. It is time people took responsibility and stand against this nonsense.
